According to The International Disaster Database number of natural disasters raised significantly after 1960 and majority of them are ‘hydro-meteorological’ or weather and climate related. Australian scientists say that all evidence suggests that the current trend of increasing disaster costs will continue into the future with a direct impact on country’s expenditure. In particular, only the cost to replace buildings exposed to extreme weather could cost Australia more than AUD$1 trillion.
