At least 1,400 people died in India in less than one week from unprecedentedly high temperatures, which reached 50C (122F) In some regions.
Almost all the victims are older people, dehydration and heat stroke caused the deaths. Officials have taken steps to try to minimize the impact of the heat wave, including opening up drinking water camps so that water will be readily available for all the people in the towns.
