According to International Energy Agency (IEA), heat pumps may reduce global CO2 emissions by 500 Mt by 2030 , or around 40% of total direct and indirect emissions reductions in space and water heating in buildings.
Achieving of such reduction will require to triple the global
investment in heat pump deployment by 2030 up to USD 350 billion, which is comparable with the investments in solar photovoltaic and wind power globally in 2021.
